Are you interested in helping people? Does improving the health of others appeal to you?

We are looking for volunteers to help us help our patients by apply to drug companies to get their needed medicines for free. Possible opportunities include:

  • Volunteer Administrative Assistant
  • Communications Volunteer
  • Volunteer Processing Assistant

VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTIONS

Volunteer Administrative Assistant: This opportunity allows you to handle information requests and perform clerical functions such as preparing correspondence and receiving visitors. This position allows you to work closely with the MEDBANK staff and our patients. For those of you who have good communication skills, there are lots of opportunities to put those to good use! This would be ideal for those interested in writing grants, helping with mailing, and actively guiding patients to the right programs for which they would be best-suited. This is also an EXCELLENT opportunity to build your communication/computer skills!

Communications Volunteer: This position allows you to contact our patients and physicians to gather information needed to process MEDBANK applications. Volunteers who take this position are crucial in helping us to be successful in receiving medications for our patients!

Volunteer Processing Assistant: This is a great position for those who want to work with state-of-the-art scanning and imaging systems. In addition, volunteers will help to compile, process, and maintain medical records. This is the perfect opportunity to become acquainted with medical diagnoses and the medications often prescribed to treat those illnesses.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

There is a basic orientation for all of the positions. Orientation will provide you with more information about our organization and show you how you fit into the whole picture. Volunteers for these positions must have good communication skills. Basic computer skills are a plus, but not required. Due to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996), volunteers for this position must be 18 years or older.

Volunteers may come and serve anytime, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. Through the efforts of past and present volunteers, our organization has been able to help thousands of Maryland residents restore the health that we all deserve.
